I think this exercise is more successful in elevation (or in 3D) than in plan. The ground floor plans are usually more open and don't represent well the massing of the building. you probably have realised about this, already. I understand you have been asked to do it in this way. I specially like the 3D Hierarchy foto-diagrams; I think they describe the massing (and Hyerarchy) very well.
Every project is different; some are more defined by the plan and others by the section and others by both (3D). I( would use the most apropiate view for each, even though it will not be as consistent as doing all the same, but it will be more meaningfull.
I specially like the ferrary restaurant, the fact that you realised of massing within massing or better said void within massing.
