MassingDevelopment&Model_WilliamCalderon

Throughout my massing development process I created four distinct massings, each representative of a designated development model.

ConceptDevelopmentModels_WilliamCalderon

We had to create concept models based on our collages. The materials I used for the development of the model are balsa wood, copper, aluminum chipboard, clear paper, bottle, metal nails, white paper, antenna, screws, and bolts.

From left to right
My first and second concept development model resembles an antenna going through pieces of balsa wood. I imagine following the path of the antenna and on the way feeling confused and disoriented, because of the turns, and going through the pieces. My third Concept development resembles the rustic, mechanical and industrial feeling that our site has.

For my first concept model, lines of chipboard follow the same path but one who is isolated showing another pattern and being isolated from the rest. For my second concept development model I wanted to show a group of metal nails interacting, being next to each other and showing movement, but in between of all the interaction there is one nail straight up isolated and capsulated in a clear cylindrical tube. My third concept development model is a clear representation of my collage where my model shows a thin metal cable, a piece of wood, and clear paper. Representing that even though they are next to each other, the materials are different and are isolated from each other.

On my first development I did an abstraction of the food that we are going to offer at my restaurant that can be also depicted from my collage. The second model shows a broken bottle filled with ingredients for reparation of food. My third model is an abstraction of all the ingredients to make beer infusing together to get out of that liquid(beer)

ConceptDevelopment_WilliamCalderon

For this assignment we had to create a series of collages that represents our impression of the site, isolation, and the program of my project.
My impressions of the site as you can see in the collage represents darkness,  isolation, confusion, disorientation. The majority of the building around the area were industrial, abandoned and had a mechanical feeling.

I took a series of picture and did my own interpretation of Isolation. You can see a person seating in a place were nobody is around, isolated from the city life. Also in this collage you can see a tree and one big cloud were also is by itself. The crumble of the collage also represents isolation from the point of view were it was taken from were it was and almost thrown away.

My program collage represents the different things you see in a brewery and a restaurant. These are abstractions of each program and represents food diversity, bottles of beer, beer production, fun.

List of Spaces, Matrix & Bubble Diagram_WilliamCalderon

Since my Project design will be a brewery and a restaurant, I did a research  to understand what are the important spaces of both programs. I have also visited a number of breweries and restaurants which from my observation I listed an average square footage for each space.
